Mitel have just release a brand new peripheral that can be used with a Mitel 5330, 5340 and 5360 IP Telephone. The Mitel Bluetooth module allows you to utilise a third party Bluetooth headset from renowned manufacturers such as Jabra or Plantronics. As with most Bluetooth headsets you can pair your headset with multiple devices such as your business telephone and mobile phone.
If the user is making use of Mitel dynamic extensions any calls can be transferred seamlessly from the mobile to desk phone using the Bluetooth headset as a bridging device.
The Mitel Bluetooth Handset is designed to replace the current handset and can be retro-fitted to the telephone so that when it isn’t being used it is charging will sitting in the dock. If the Bluetooth handset is used with a Mitel 5360 there is a handy on screen battery indicator so you know if the handset needs to be charges, but if you are not close to your telephone the handset will vibrate to tell you it needs to be charged.
The Mitel Bluetooth Handset is equipped with its own ringer so even if you are away from your desk you will be notified of any incoming calls. If you are carrying the Mitel Handset around with you there are discreet buttons on the handset to allow you to answer and end calls as well as adjusting the ringing and call volume.
A unique feature to the Mitel Bluetooth Handset is the ability to “auto dial” a pre-programmed number, even if you are not near your phone or have access to the phone keypad. The auto speed dial feature allows the user to program a single speed dial number, e.g. speak@ease or company attendant, which is dialled automatically when the user goes off hook on the Bluetooth Handset.
You will need to make sure that you have the correct software version running on your Mitel Telephone System, if you have Telephone System Maintenance then your software should be up to date but these are the correct versions for each phone system:
- Mitel 5000 Telephone System – Release 5.0
- Mitel 3300 Telephone System – Release 5.0 Service Pack 2
